From Barcelona to Tarragona

TRAIN: The city of Barcelona is 90 km far from Tarragona. As soon as the traveller has landed in the Airport of Barcelona, it is preferable that he/she gets to the Train station of Sants (in the city) and takes one of the many trains to Tarragona. To get to the train station there are many ways: by train from the airport, by the Aerobus (airport-Sants train station) or by taxi.

There are two toll highways from Barcelona to Tarragona. Depending on the hour of the day, the trip can last an hour or an hour and a half.
These highways are the A-16 (in the town of El Vendrell it joins with the AP-7 and N-340) and the A-7.

As the A-16 is the best indicated from the airport but we recommend to look for the A-7 to LLEIDA.

From Madrid to Tarragona (city) there are only two trains: the Altaria (during the noon) and the Estrella (during the night).

But there is also the recently inaugurated Ave, the high speed train, which takes travelers from Madrid to Tarragona Camp in 2 hours and a half. However the train does not stop in the city of Tarragona, there are many buses from Tarragona Camp to Tarragona. There are 9 Ave trains from Madrid to Tarragona Camp everyday.

Furthermore Renfe offers the TIKNET service by its web site and you can buy train tickets for many different trains through it.
